Dr. Michael Ashenhurst, MD, FRCSC, earned his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Saskatchewan in 1985. He completed an internship in internal medicine at McGill University, followed by residency training in ophthalmology at the University of Toronto. Specializing in oculoplastic surgery, Dr. Ashenhurst underwent additional training at the University of Toronto, University of Saskatchewan, and Moorefields Eye Hospital in London, England.
Since 1991, Dr. Ashenhurst has performed over 40,000 ocular procedures, focusing on eyelid, orbital, and lacrimal diseases, including expertise in the lacrimal system (tear glands and ducts). He concurrently serves as an assistant professor at the University of Calgary, with prior roles as a visiting professor at the University of British Columbia. Dr. Ashenhurst has shared his insights as an invited speaker at the University of Toronto and held significant positions, including program chair and section chief for the University of Calgary residency program from 2013 to 2018.
