Narrow-Angle Glaucoma

Referred to as acute angle-closure glaucoma, closed-angle glaucoma, or narrow-angle, it is a serious type of glaucoma. The fluid at the front of the eye cannot leave the eye because the drainage canals are blocked by part of the iris. This results in a sudden increase in pressure and produces quick damage to the optic nerve with quick loss of vision because of the rapidity of the pressure rise.

Narrow-angle glaucoma is considered to be a medical emergency and requires immediate treatment to prevent blindness.
