Established in 1984, the Mitchell Eye Centre continues to be one of the most advanced eye care practices in Calgary. Having opened our first operating room in 1990, and laser centre in 1993 while at our Chinook Centre location, the Mitchell Eye Centre consistently uses only the most advanced and innovative technology available for the treatment of eye conditions and diseases. After moving to our new location in 2010 inside the Southern Alberta Eye Centre, we have the most sophisticated facility in the province and among the best in Western Canada.
In addition to being inducted to the Order of Alberta, we are also co-founders of the University Eye Foundation. Our founder, Dr. Robert Mitchell was the first ophthalmologist to perform a corneal graft and LASIK in Vietnam where we setup 3 eye clinics to assist developing communities. The Mitchell Eye Centre is currently a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, Canadian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, Canadian Ophthalmic Society, and the American Academy of Ophthalmologists.
Beyond these achievements and recognition, our doctors have participated in advanced research in the field of ophthalmology.
